ISO 22000 is the fundamental standard for safety management systems in the agro-food sector. Preventing the occurrence of accidents along the entire supply chain and verifying the adequacy with respect to the regulations are two essential aspects for the protection of the brand. The ISO 22000 standard was designed to be compatible and harmonized with other international management systems standards, such as ISO 9001. It can therefore be integrated with existing management systems and processes. It can also be adopted by all operators in the food chain, not only directly involved in the food production process, but also indirectly involved (eg packaging manufacturers, cleaning and rodent control services, etc.).
